| Abstract: | The dynastic title of the Song Dynasty originated from Songzhou, which was a prefecture invested to Zhao Kuangying, the founder of the Song Dynasty, before he usurped the throne of the Zhou Dynasty. However, in later times, even including the Song Dynasty, by many coincidences, scholars produced increasingly more complicated and mysterious interpretations for the origin of the title. These interpretations exerted profound influence on the politics and culture of the time and thereafter. |
