On the Essence of Political Development Theory in Early Ages and Its Theoretical Value

The western political development theory in early 20^th century is a theoretical system closely related to a context of political reality and Euro-American academic background of that time. The theory contains the methodologies of system-function, social process, comparative history and political culture etc. Its inner subject is to define the orientation and requisites of modern national state construction for underdeveloped countries. It includes two stages of theory argumentation： general developmentalism and rationalism of political authority. Although there is theoretical defect of value unilateralism, it＇s helpful to Chinese political study, especially during the political and social transitional periods in China today.
