南北朝时期的淮汉蛮族

南北朝时期江淮、江汉地区生活着数量众多的蛮民 ,他们在语言、服饰及生活习俗上仍保留着自己的特点。分裂割据的政治局势为蛮民提供了较大的活动空间。蛮民依违于各政权 ,对当时的社会政治产生了较大影响。各政权对蛮族的政策屡有得失 ,导致蛮民的时服时叛。蛮民主动或被迫离开山区 ,进入平原与汉人杂居。其部落逐渐解体 ,转由州郡统辖 ,成为向封建国家服役纳赋的编户齐民。及至隋唐 ,蛮民已与汉民融为一体

The Uncivilized Nationalities that Lived in Jianghuai and Hanhuai Regions in the Period of Northern and Southern Dynasties

In the period of Northern and Southern Dynasties (420-581), there lived many uncivilized people in the Jianghuai and Hanhuai regions of China. They kept their own features in languages, costumes and customs. The separated political situation provided them with bigger active space. What they obeyed or betrayed various political powers brought much influence on the social politics then. With the policy to the uncivilized people carried out by Qi political authority, they obeyed or disobeyed accordingly. Then they actively or passively left mountainous regions and entered in the plains and mixed with Han nationality. Their tribes gradually disintegrated and were ruled by the counties and prefectures and got into the listed people that served and paid taxes to the feudalist states. To the period of Sui and Tang dynasties (581-907), they were mixed with Han into one nationality.
