A Contrastive Study of Appelation and Small Talk in Chinese and English

The words and expressions for everyday use in communication can't be separated from social economy and social culture. They originate from practice of the development of society and in turn are influenced by the vicissitude of social structure and the development of society. The change of the words and expressions for everyday use directly reflects the change of social environment and social relations. This paper tries to discuss the differences of form of address and small talk in Chinese and English from the differences of Chinese and English society and culture.
