论“英语公众演讲”课(EPS)在中国高校的本土化

摘    要:近年来演讲比赛与演讲课程的同步发展带动了演讲研究的兴起,并成为当前外语教学研究的一个新焦点。然教学实践与研究现状表明,英语公众演讲课程在中国高校的本土化势在必行,并且EPS的课程性质与定位理应成为本土化的首要问题。"英语公众演讲"课应该是一门涵盖语言交流、内容与情感交流、思维交流和跨文化交流四个层次的交流艺术(communication art)课程,其与跨文化交际课程、口译等课程的衔接将是今后演讲研究不可回避的选题,也是英语公众演讲课程在中国高校的本土化的重要议题。

Abstract:The synchronous development of English speaking contests and English speaking course in recent years brings up the rise of speech research. And it has become a new focus of research on foreign language teaching. However, the teaching practice and research status calls for the localization of English public speaking at universities in China. In view of the prime problem of the localization, the nature of the course, the author fi rstly suggests that EPS is a communication art course in China, covering four levels as language communication, content and emotion communication, thinking communication, and crosscultural communication; and secondly discusses the cohesion between EPS and other EFL courses.
