胡凤丹父子的目录学成就

Achievements of Hu Fengdan and His Son in Bibliography

Hu Fengdan(1828-1889) and his son Hu Zongmao(ca 1867-1934) were famous publishers and book collectors in the late Qing dynasty(1644-1911),whose lifelong efforts for the publication of a series of books,including Books of Jinhua,A Sequel to Books of Jinhua,Books of Jinhua: A Bibliography,and A Record of Classics in Jinhua,have not only contributed much to the protection of the local documents in Jinhua but also distinguished the Hus by their construction of a distinctive bibliographic framework.The commentaries written by the Hus in the books they printed,which painstakingly explore the authors' life stories,introduce the academic origins and evolutions,confirm the authenticity of the copies,and analyze and comment on the contents,prove of particular value to historical studies.
