On the Significance of Ethics in Islam

Religious in nature,islamic ethics derives from the Koran,the holy teachings,the religious rituals and social customs practiced among the Mus lims.Islam believes in the wickedness of human nature and the unity of virtue and happiness.While accepting absolute preordination,it preaches human free will and encourages Muslims to both take the mundane life seriously and pursue e ternal bliss.It also emphasizes social responsibilities and obligations.In re gard to the gender issue,it recognizes gender differences and advocates equalit y between man and woman.The paper holds that islamic ethics is conducive to ef forts towards a harmonious society.
