| Abstract: | Human nature in Shakespeare's dramas is a blend of historical human nature and the original human nature,one aspect of which is composed of universe elements:water,earth,air,wind,fire and the sky.All these elements originate in substances of the instinctive world,and their different combination leads to character's different world of emotion and desire in Shakespeare's dramas.This paper analyses the symbolism of universe elements in Shakespeare's dramas,and offers an initial study of Shakespearan individuality in terms of instinct. |
