波德里亚早期思想发展的双螺旋结构

波德里亚整个早期思想是围绕着“符号”与“象征”的双螺旋上升运动来展开的。其中,二者的关系是核心线索,主要从象征社会与现代社会、象征性交换与符号价值、象征性交换与商品交换等一系列对立体现出来。符号与象征双螺旋的上升运动,也是对西方社会和文化的现代化过程的阐释。这一过程实际上就是符号秩序压抑和取代象征秩序, 象征秩序又不断挑战符号秩序的过程。因此,对现代性的反思和批判,就成为波德里亚著作的核心主题,象征性交换则成为其基本立场。

The whole of Baudrillards early thought revolves round the rising double spiral of sign and symbol , the relationship of both of which is the central strand that is embodied in a series of opposition between symbolic society and modem society, between symbolic exchange and sign value, between symbolic exchange and commercial exchange. The double spiral and upward movement of sign and symbol is also an explanation of the course of modernization of western society and culture. This is, in fact, the course that semiotics order suppresses and substitutes symbolic order, and in turn the latter continuously challenges the former. Therefore, rethinking and criticizing of modernity becomes the key theme of Baudrillard and symbolic exchange becomes his basic position.
