委婉语和合作原则

会话合作原则是语用学研究的一个重要内容,人们在交际中要遵循合作原则,但在具体语境中却可能由于礼貌而故意违反合作原则,以求达到更好的交际效果。作为一种特殊的语用现象,委婉语用一种愉快的方式或动听的话使受话人产生愉快的效果,这虽然表达了礼貌,却往往违反了"会话合作原则"的准则。

Euphemism and Cooperative Principle

The cooperative principle is a guiding principle in pragmatics that should be abided by in communication.But in order to achieve a better communicative effectiveness,the cooperative principle may be deliberately violated due to the consideration of politeness in specific context.As a special pragmatic phenomenon,euphemism can generate a better association in the mind of the hearer by means of being polite and saving face.However,in linguistic communication,euphemism violates the cooperative principle,though it is closely related to politeness.
