“贵和”取向与“致和”工夫

建设和谐社会,人多寄望于政府的宏观调控,以为均贫富是实现社会和谐的关键。利益的杠杆作用固然必不可少,但文化、教育潜移默化的影响更是不可或缺。社会和谐的实现,关键在于辨明“贵和”取向与笃行“致和”工夫。“和为贵”是中国传统文化最核心的价值。中国古圣先贤对于“和”的体认,是“极高明而道中庸”的。惟其如此,在“贵和”的价值取向上许多流行的观念实际上是似是而非的。对此不进行一番博学、审问、慎思、明辨的工夫,和谐社会的建设便会差之毫厘失之千里,“贵和”的取向难免导致“失和”的结局。

The Orientation of "Valuing Harmony" and the Cultivation of "Achieving Harmony"

In building a harmonious society,most people place their hope on the government's macroeconomic regulation and control,thinking the key element for its realization to be levelling the poor with the rich.However,the subtle influence of culture and education is more essential though the leveler of profit is necessary.To achieve a harmonious society,one should have a clear judgment of "valuing harmony",and sincerely cultivate oneself to "achieve harmony"."Harmony is precious" is the kernel of traditional Chinese culture.The ancient Chinese sages' comprehension of "harmony" may well be described as "know it perfectly and practice it moderately".Nevertheless,many current ideas about "harmony" appear to be true but are actually not.We should cultivate ourselves to "study widely,question carefully,think prudently,and judge clearly";otherwise,it will be hard to achieve the "harmonious society", and the pursuit of harmony may probably lead to inharmony.
