Abstract:After World War II, the United States and Britain trapped the Middle East in the global cold war in order to curb the Soviet Union, and at the same time attempted to control weapons supply to the area through the US-British-French Proclamation in 1950 so as to maintain political and military balance in the region. However, to defend his country from the attack of Israel and because of his failed attempt to buy weapons from the West, Egiptian President Nasser turned to the Soviet Union and signed arms sale treaties with the country through Czechoslovakia. The arms transactions strengthened the Soviets in their political and military power in the Middle East, which in turn greatly influenced the situation of the Middle East.
Keywords:situation of the Middle East  British-American policy  Soviet-Egypt arms sale  consequences
