| Abstract: | Chinese has two kinds of negative forms negative expressions and the tone of one's voice in rhetorical question. The essence of negative sentence pattern to express affirmative proposition is to link two negative forms together for a positive sense. The essay defines the scope of such a negative sentence pattern, describes its structural feature and expounds its main pragmatic function. |
