毕沅《续资治通鉴》考辨

乾嘉之际,经史考证之学蔚为学术潮流,一时名儒硕彦多有专精之作.在此潮流之下,儒臣毕沅以其自身的学术素养,依凭一批学有专长的幕客,致力于经史之学的编纂与张扬.其中,<续资治通鉴>煌煌巨帙的结撰,一方面彰显出毕沅诸人努力之所获,另一方面则反映出史学在乾嘉之际的学术走向.然而,由于官场的风波,毕沅未能将此书尽付剞劂,即赍志而殁.这一变故,遂使<续资治通鉴>的卷数、版本等问题留下了诸多歧异.本文通过对与此相关问题的梳理考辨,一则尽可能澄清歧异产生的致因,一则藉此彰显毕沅主持经营是书之艰辛及价值,以期对史学在乾嘉之际的走向与成就有进一步的认识.
