与整个古代比较一致的丧葬和哀悼仪俗相比,古希腊没有形成统一的、普遍为人们所接受的灵魂观念.从总体上看,人们对灵魂的认识是沿着由简单到复杂、由感性到理性的方向在发展.不同的灵魂观念之间并不是孤立存在的,而是有着相互渗透与承递的关系.应当说后来的较为进步和较为复杂的灵魂观念是在以前比较简单和比较原始的观念基础上形成的.

Ancient Greek Conception of the Soul and Its Historical Evolution

There wasn't a unified and universally accepted concept of the soul in ancient Greek, in contrast to relative uniformity of the rituals of burial and mourning which seems to have prevailed throughout antiquity. Generally speaking ,Greeks' cognition to the soul developed along the road from simple to complex,from perceptual to rational. It is not independent strands of the soul ,but a nexus of interrelated ideas. It's safe to say that more advanced and more sophisticated conceptions of the soul are based on previously simpler and more primitive conceptions.
