从清代保甲的社会控制看会党的滋长动因

有清一代,秘密会党的滋长与基层社会的控制效率关系甚密。作为维持基层社会秩序的保甲,在清政治廉明、社会经济稳定时,它在国家政权的督导下,对举报、纠察、搜拿会党成员能起到一定作用。但随着清中后期人口的快速增长和大量流动,政治腐败的日益加重,社会矛盾的不断激化,人民群众的反清起义此起彼伏,致使保甲制不断破坏、瓦解,而无以担当对会党的控制功能。

On the Cause of Growth of Secret Society in the Light of the Social Control of Baojia System in the Qing Dynasty

The growth of secret society in the Qing dynasty was closely related with the efficiency of social control at grassroots level. Baojia system played its part in reporting and picketing secret society's activities and revolts in the Baojia area.So it maintained the stability of the Qing's feudalist governance to some extent. With social and economic change, the social crisis increasingly deepened, the government's strength declined gradually, Baojia system lost the national power to prop up it and could not play its part at the basic level. That's why secret society could grow strong.
