Exploration on the Development of Autonomous Learning Ability in College English Teaching

Autonomous learning is a learner-centered learning model. It is not only one of the goals of quality education in modern colleges and universities, but also a great promoter in ELT. It plays a significant role in solving many problems in college English teaching. This paper firstly introduces the theory of autonomous learning, then explores the necessity of advocating it in the current context of college English teaching., and finally makes some tentative suggestions and proposals as how to develop autonomous learning.
