从三个《红楼梦》全译本中鸳鸯性格的处理看译者主体性

翻译是语言的诠释和重构,语言重构必然导致原文信息变化.这种变化既是由于不同语言自身特点所致,又与译者的思维方式、文化背景及翻译时代紧密相关.尽管传统翻译理论忽视译者的作用,但在翻译过程中,译者在尊重翻译对象的前提下,仍然会不可避免地发挥自己的主观能动性和创造性.因此,不管在整部译作中还是单独的人物性格处理上,译者都占据着重要的地位.通过对杨宪益、霍克斯、邦斯尔三人的《红楼梦》英文全译本中丫鬟鸳鸯的不同性格进行研究,揭示了译者个体在翻译实践中能动性的发挥对译本生成的影响.

Translator＇s Subjectivity in the Translation of Maid Yuan-yang in Three Different English Versions of A Dream of Red Mansions

Translation is the interpretation and reconstruction of language, which must lead to information change of the original text. Apart from the characteristics of different languages, these changes are closely re- lated to the thinking way, the cultural background of the translator and the times of translation. Traditional translation theory usually neglects the role of translators, but under the premise of respecting translation ob- jects,translators unavoidably exert their subjectivity and creativity in the process of translation. Therefore, translators playa a very important role, no matter in the tone of the whole book or in the creation of a single character. Through the analysis of different characteristics of Yuan- yang, the maid, reflected in different translation versions like Yang Xianyi＇s, Huo Kesi＇s and Bang Sier＇s, it is demonstrated that initiatives exerted by translators themselves have a great effect on the creation of translation version in the translating practice.
