国际期刊论文引言语篇的情态序列与推销策略分析

研究选取语言学类国际期刊的论文引言语篇作为语料,在Swales的CARS模型下分析情态序列在引言各语步和语阶中的分布及体现的话语策略。分析发现,情态序列主要出现在“文献综述”和“研究发现”这两个语阶中。情态序列在“文献综述”中的使用体现作者对该领域的熟悉程度和对前人研究所持有的态度,表明当前研究的必要性。“研究发现”部分中情态动词后动词及副词的共现带有正面、积极的语义趋向。无灵主语与情态动词的共现及被动态的高频共现使论文保持了客观的文体风格,使研究成果更为可信。

An Analysis of Promotional Strategies and the Modal Sequences in International Journal Article Introductions

This study makes both qualitative and quantitative analyses on modal sequences in 60 RA introductions selected from four journals in the field of applied linguistics.The introductions are also marked with moves and steps according to Swales'' CARS model so that the distribution of modal sequences and their discourse function in each move and step can be further analyzed.The major findings of the study are listed as follows.Modal sequences are most frequently used in the move-steps of "literature review" and "research findings".In the part of literature review,the use of modal verbs helps to demonstrate the authors'' understanding,learning and critical thinking about their research field,indicating the necessity and significance of the current research.In the part of research findings,it is found that a group of verbs and adverbs with positive meaning is used after the modal verbs to highlight the significance of research results.Besides,it is found that the authors tend to avoid human subjects before modal verbs to keep the article objective and trustworthy.
