Descriptive terms of address plays an important role in character creation in literary works.Understanding and translation of such terms can never be confined to literal meanings.This paper analyzes the descriptive terms of address in the light of context and illustrates the importance of contextual analysis in understanding and translation of such terms.It argues that successful translation of descriptive terms of address depends largely upon the translator's flexibility and recreation.
