Sino-American Relations under the George W.Bush Administration

When George W.Bush and his major advisors began the term,they maintained strategic suspicion toward China.EP-3 incident in April 2001 brought a new crisis to Sino-American relations.The terrorist attacks on the U.S.on September 11 and counter-terror war afterwards helped to improve China-U.S.relations.It ended the debate on China policy,which had been under way after the end of the Cold War,changed the China image in the United States to certain extent.Cooperation between the two countries in counter-terror war and in the DPRK's nuclear issue has shown that the basis for Sino-American relations is expanding.The key to the relationship,however,remains the proper handle of the Taiwan issue.
