语言变异研究:方法及应用

摘    要:由美国社会语言学家拉波夫开创的语言变异研究强调语言是以多种变异形式存在的,认为语言系统是一个"有序异质体"。从方法论视角分析,语言变异研究分为定量范式和定性范式两种,两种研究方法相得益彰,互为补充。语言变异研究的一个突出特征就是其严格的方法论,特色之一就是注重收集和分析活生生的、使用中的实际语言材料。本文探讨了收集资料和分析资料两个阶段使用的具体方法,以及这些方法在外语教学中的应用。

Abstract:Language variation studies, initiated by William Labov, the great American sociolinguist, are distinguished from the other studies for its focus on the varieties of language forms and "the system of orderly heterogeneity". There are two major paradigms in variation studies: quantitative paradigm and qualitative paradigm, though they are usually used together in researches to avoid their respective shortcomings. Variation studies are special for its strict methodology, and collecting the lively daily used language data is one of the salient features. This paper discusses what concrete methods are used in collecting data and analyzing data and how the methods will be applied in foreign language teaching.
