系统功能语言学和社会语言学从学科的发展来看基本上是同步的。这两门学科具有共享的特征：确认语言与社会文化的关系。文章旨在讨论从系统功能语言学的整个发展过程看,它本身就具有社会语言学的思想渊源这一观点,不论后者是狭义的还是广义的。限于篇幅,文章论述了马利诺夫斯基、弗斯和韩礼德等奠基人的思想,也概述了新一代代表人物,如哈桑、马丁和麦西逊等人的研究活动。

The Relation of Systemic Functional Linguistics to Sociolinguistics in Terms of Its Origin and Development

The origin and development of systemic functional linguistics and sociolinguistics can be traced back to the similar age.They are interrelated with each other,sharing the same feature,i.e.revealing and establishing the relation between language and social culture.This paper is intended to investigate the relation of systemic functional linguistics to sociolinguistics in terms of its origin and development,no matter in what way sociolinguistics is referred to,i.e.,in the narrow or broad sense.For the sake of limited space,this paper on the one hand discusses thoughts of the founding figures of the discipline,such as Malinowski,Firth and Halliday,and on the other hand summarizes studies of the representatives of a new generation,such as Hasan,Martin and Matthiessen.
