西学东渐对中日新语词创出的影响

西学传入近代中国后，急需大量表述新知识、新技术的语词。林则徐、魏源等晚清先哲及来华传教士为创出新语词付出了艰辛的努力。早期中文报刊与西学著作是新语词得以传播的媒介，英华词典也在新语词的传播中发挥了重要作用。同属汉字文化圈的日本，通过在中国出版的西学著作获取了西方的新知识、新技术，同时获得丰富的抽象词汇和专业术语。西学东渐及中日间的文化互动，不仅影响了中日两国的社会与历史，也给两国的语言带来了重大的影响。

Influence of western learning spread to the east on Chinese and Japanese neology

Great quantity of new words and expressions are needed to express new knowledge and new technology after western learning spread to modern China. Lin Zexu, Wei Yuan and some other scholars and missionaries in later Qing Dynasty made great efforts in this field. Chinese journals and western works became the medium of neology, in which the English-Chinese dictionary played an important role. Japan, belonging to the region of Chinese culture, acquired new western knowledge and technology as well as plenty of abstract words and technical terms from western works published in China. Western learning introduced into China and cultural interactivity not only affected the society and history of China and Japan, but also had tremendous impact upon the languages of the two countries.
