| Abstract: | Taoism was actually influenced by both Zhou and Chu cultural backgrounds. What Lao zi concerned about was to establish a philosophical system replacing the religious ground during the Zhou Dynasty. However, Taoism still absorbed mystical elements of the Chu culture, which later had something to do with the witchcraft tendencies within the concept and practice of the Taoist religion. |
