Innovation and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Its Relation to Modern Science and Technology

The revolution of modern science and technology has brought about great changes in the scientific methods and scientific conceptions. The theories and thought processes of traditional Chinese medicine coincide with those of modern science. The strategic principles in developing traditional Chinese medicine include adherence to the basic theories of traditional Chinese medicine as the guidance, establishment of traditional Chinese medicine as the mainstay, introduction of modern scientific technology (including the knowledge and techniques of modern medicine)to offset the defects of traditional Chinese medicine in microscopic techniques, quantification and accuracy, so as to realize the innovation and development of traditional Chinese medicine based on practice. Syndrome differentiation is the characteristic and advantage of traditional Chinese medicine as well as its end-result. The key link in the innovation and development of traditional Chinese medicine is to bring the indices of modern science and technology into the system of differentiation of syndromes.
