| 摘 要： | 对比了英汉方位词＂东＂、＂西＂、＂南＂、＂北＂的组合类型,分析了方位词词序的成因,指出汉语的认知过程一般是参照点先于目标,而英语一般是目标先于参照点。同时论述了＂东＂、＂西＂、＂南＂、＂北＂的翻译以及其文化蕴涵,对语言教学、翻译等应用学科具有一定积极的影响。

| Abstract: | This paper makes the comparative analysis on the combination types of ＂east＂,＂west＂,＂south＂,and ＂north＂ both in Chinese and English.As far as the word order is concerned,for the Chinese cognitive process,the reference point precedes the target,while for English the target precedes the reference point.The paper also discusses in detail the translation and the cultural connotations of ＂east＂,＂west＂,＂south＂,and ＂north＂,which may have a positive influence on the language teaching and translation. |
