质量是高等教育存在与发展的基础 ,不同时期有着不同的质量观 ,不同的院校有着不同的质量定位。无论是单一性、精英式的传统质量观 ,还是多样性、大众式的现代质量观 ,都在一定程度上反映了不同时期社会的政治、经济和文化对高等教育的不同要求 ,以及高等教育的价值取向。新的高等教育质量观的产生有其客观必然性 ,它将以丰富的内涵和全新的理念取代传统的质量观 ,但要获得公众的认同还需要一个很长的过程 ,而这个过程充满矛盾、困难与冲突

On the Quality View of China's Higher Education in the New Century

Quality is the foundation of existence and development of higher education. There are different quality views in different times and different colleges have adopted different positions in this regard. Either the view of unity or that of diversity reflects the economic and cultural demands on higher education in different times. Although the traditional view is accetpted by most people, there will surely appear a new quality view. The new view will inevitably replace the old one, but it takes long time.
