Role Played by Zhang Shizhao’s Sun Yat-sen in End-of-Qing Revolutionary Propaganda

Sun Yat-sen is a book edited and translated by Zhang Shi-zhao, under the encouragement of Zou Rong, about the early revolutionary activities of Sun Zhongshan. It became an immediate success in advocating revolution on its publication in 1803, and could be compared with Zou Rong's Revolutionary Army and Chen Tianhua's Looking Back and Bell to Alarm the World. This book played an irreplaceable role in promulgating Sun Zhongshan's early revoution activities and political views, in elevating his prestige in the circle of revolutionary intellectuals, thus consolidating his leading position in the bourgeois demoeratic movement.
