The Monster as a Romantic "Other" in Frankenstein

The monster,being ugly and against romantic aesthetics,is seen by his master as the "other" in Romanticism and therefore encounters exclusion and abhorrence.In fact,the author Mary Shelley suggests that the monster is essentially consistent with Romanticism instead of being inconsistent,and therefore exposed Frankenstein's misconduct of creating an "other" to achieve the goal of self-fashioning.The great discrepancy here offers Shelley a good way to criticize romantic aesthetics and Romanticism in terms of its trying to be the dominant discourse.
