走进中国文化的意义世界——在中美双方学术交流座谈会上的演讲

本文是作者与美国圣克劳德州立大学学术访问团座谈时的一篇演讲稿。作者认为中国文化历来重视维护人和人类的尊严，朋友之间的相互“责善”即很好地说明了这一点。中国几千年的大一统成就为世界各国所罕见，其中的经验和智慧仍值得今天的人类学习或汲取。缺少了中国历史经验与文化智慧的参与或介入，未来的世界文明秩序的建构难免不产生“缺陷”与“弊端”。无论东方或西方都有必要把对方的文明成就包容到自己的经验系统之中，以相互尊重和不断反思的开放态度促进固有传统的创造性转化。只有彻底放弃自我中心的封闭自固而平等地交流与对话。世界才能在相互依赖的多元结构中谋求进一步的和谐化发展和繁荣。

Understand the Significance of Chinese Culture——A speech at an academic forum between Chinese and American scholars

This is a speech by the present writer at an academic forum held for the visiting group from St. Cloud State University. The paper states that Chinese culture has always attached great importance to protecting the dignity between man and man, and good advice and encouragement is a good example for that. The unification of the whole land for thousands of year in China is rather rare in other countries in the world. The experience and wisdom embodied in it is worth the attention of the people in the world today. Without it, the construction of the world civilization tomorrow will not be free from weaknesses and imperfection. East or West, every country should take in the successes in civilization construction into their own system for reference, so as to stimulate the creative change of the tradition based on mutual respect and reflection. Only when we give up self-centered strategy and carry out equal exchange and dialogue, the world could find out a model for harmonious development from the present interdependent multi-structured culture.
