In this thesis I hold the views that Zhao Shuli is a writer who contributes greatly to Contemporary Literature of China.We must place him in the"Cultural category of intellecturals"so that his special meaning can be embodied.His status of "social character"is wandering between"torch bearer"and "practitioner",while his "sensibility character"and "power character"have been located in the process of self strengthen of "the personality of intellectuals".In the complex and baffling cultural context of the contemporary era,his "anxiety of character"has always been presented by the means of bewilderment and agony.His creations are embodied in the firm protection of the integrality of "the personality of intellectuals"and the struggles of casting off pain and breaking away from perplexity.
