The Rural Poverty Features in China and Future Policy Option in the New Century

In the new century the basic features of rural poverty will shift from absolute poverty into relative poverty, which will gradually become a core problem of rural poverty and an important task of supporting poverty. Therefore, we must change the policies for the development of agriculture, rural areas and supporting poverty; set up effective anti poverty control structure through system reform and innovation; raise farmers' existing ability in the market economy as well as the agricultural productivity and solve the rural poverty problem in the development of agricultural economy.
