| Abstract: | Han Yu's doctrine of the three grades of human nature embraces the following Five Ethics: benevolence (ren), Justice (yi), courtesy (li), wisdom (zhi), and faith (xin), and their presence and absence is the very means to demonstrate how human nature exists. However, his doctrine is originated from Mencius' conception that man is born with good will in his mind, and its pursuit in terms of values is equality of all flesh. |
