| 摘 要： | 《红字》是19世纪美国浪漫主义作家霍桑的长篇小说,在美国文学领域引起了世纪之久的关注和评论.霍桑在《红字》中通过对黑男人和印地安人的刻画,表达了反对奴隶制、对黑人奴隶的同情和对印地安人尊敬与赞扬的态度倾向,揭露了父权制社会是种族压迫的根源,揭示了小说的主题——建立一个人人平等的和谐社会.这对美国社会严重的种族问题也有重要的启示作用.

| Abstract: | The Scarlet Letter one of the greatest novels by Hawthorne, 19th century＇s American Romantic writer aroused century-long attention and criticism in American literary field. Hawthorne＇s portrayal of black men and Indian people in The Scarlet Letter expressed his opposition to slavery, sympathy to black slaves, and respect and praise for American Indians and exposed the patriarchal society as the root of racial oppression, thus revealing the theme of the novel-establishing a harmonious society with equality for all. Such a portrayal as Hawthorne made enlightens the current American society significantly. |
