美国理工科大学文科建设与教育启示

摘    要:人的全面发展是教育的终极目标,美国大学通过通识教育模式,使理工类学生兼具人文社会科学知识和人文精神。通过探讨美国理工科大学MIT(麻省理工学院)和CIT(加州理工学院)的办学理念和办学模式可以给我国高校理工科的发展带来启示:应结合学校实际建立相适应的文科;坚持一流标准,提高师资层次;重视基础文科建设同时培植特色文科;加强师资阵容,引进学术大师等。

Abstract:The ultimate aim of education is all-round development of human beings. General education in the universities abroad enables the students majored in science and technology to have both the knowledge of social sciences and the humanities and the humanistic spirit. The experience of MIT and CIT in construction of liberal arts summarized in present paper tells us that in the process of developing Chinese universities of science and technology we should take into consideration the real situation of the school while constructing liberal arts, stick to the first-class standard so as to improve the ranks of teachers, cultivate distinctive liberal arts while consolidating the foundation of the humanities and social sciences, and employ academic masters.
