美国理工科大学文科建设与教育启示

Construction of Liberal Arts in American Universities of Science and Technology and Its Enlightenment

The ultimate aim of education is all-round development of human beings. General education in the universities abroad enables the students majored in science and technology to have both the knowledge of social sciences and the humanities and the humanistic spirit. The experience of MIT and CIT in construction of liberal arts summarized in present paper tells us that in the process of developing Chinese universities of science and technology we should take into consideration the real situation of the school while constructing liberal arts, stick to the first-class standard so as to improve the ranks of teachers, cultivate distinctive liberal arts while consolidating the foundation of the humanities and social sciences, and employ academic masters.
