大学英语是高校基础课中的重头戏 ,其重要性便体现在通过语言习得来了解异域文化。语言是文化的载体 ,文化必然要通过语言来传播。学习外语的目的便是为了了解异域文化并对之进行积极的扬弃 ,从而全面提高学生的文化素质并进而促进我们民族文化的发展。大学英语教学绝不能忽视其所应具备的文化传递功能 ,而应做到语言与文化的双重。

On the vehicular function of college English teaching in introducing culture

College English is one of the most important essential courses in Chinese higher education and its importance lies in that we can know a lot about foreign cultures from language learning. Culture is usually transmitted through the carrier of language. The end of foreign language learning is to critically view foreign culture so as to develop our own. So, in college English teaching, we should put emphasis upon culture study, as well as on the study of language itself.
