| Abstract: | Language has two basic functions:the tool for human communication and the tool for human thinking.Language,as a social phenomenon,is always restricted by the society in which it is used.the vocabulary of language is particularly sensitive to the change of social life.Social development is the decisive factor of word formation.This paper,from the perspective of sociology,makes an analysis on the formation of newly coined English words,focusing on the influences from technology,economy,politics,culture and etc,revealing the effects of social development on the formation of newly coined words. |
