摘    要:隐喻是一种重要的认知模式,普遍存在于汉英语言中。惯用语是口语中一种短小固定的语言样式,它往往超越字面意义,获得一种比喻性的整体意义。在惯用语意义形成的过程中,隐喻起了非常重要的作用。隐喻研究作为认知语言学的一个重要部分,与文化密不可分,它是人类抽象思维的重要特征和重要手段。由于两个民族拥有不同的社会价值取向、宗教信仰和风俗习惯等因素,英汉隐喻在共性基础上又具有鲜明的民族个性。本文探究了英汉惯用语中的隐喻现象,及其反映出的文化认知异同,以期译者在进行跨文化语言翻译时,准确把握隐喻语言的认知特点;英语学习者能够提高跨文化交际能力。

Abstract:As an important cognitive mode, metaphor exists in Chinese and English languages. Idiom is a short language form in verbal communication. It always attains a metaphorical meaning beyond its superficial meaning. In the formation of idioms, metaphor plays a significant role. As an important part of cognitive linguistics, metaphor study has a close relation with culture, which is one of the important characters and methods of human's abstract minds. Since the two nations are different in social values, religious beliefs and social customs, metaphor in English and Chinese has its own cultural connotations despite the common base. This paper studies the metaphor in Chinese and English idioms and the similarities and differences of cultural cognition reflected, hoping that translators will have a good command of cognitive characters of language, and English learners will improve their abilities of cross cultural communication.
