英汉动物词的文化内涵比较及其翻译

动物词在英汉两种语言中的出现频率都很高。英汉民族思维方式和文化背景不同,同一动物所承载的意义也就会出现差异。文章从英汉动物词汇的文化意义基本相同、部分相同、完全不对应、呈现语义空缺四个方面,对动物词文化意义的产生作了比较,并对如何保留动物词翻译中的文化内涵进行了探讨。

Cultural connotation and translation of E-C animal words

There are a lot of animal words in both English and Chinese. Their modes of thinking and cultural backgrounds are different,so the implied meanings of the same animal are possibly different.Animal names in the English and Chinese languages have their respective lexical cultural connotations(LCC) which, in comparison, fall into four categories:similarity, part similarity, distinction and vacancy in eqivalence. A tentative summary of the demonstrative forms and causative factors of LCC is made in this paper.
