| 摘 要： | 省略是语篇衔接的重要手段之一。文章通过英、汉语名词性省略衔接方式的对比分析,指出名词词组的修饰成分提升为中心词的现象在两种语言中既有一致性,又存在迥然的差异。英语省略需要充分考虑语法,而汉语省略关注的则是语义。

| Abstract: | Ellipsis is one of the ways by which cohesion is created in text. This paper attempts to make a contrastive study of nominal ellipsis between English and Chinese. It is found out that in both languages there are instances where modifiers in nominal groups are usually upgraded to the status of head ;however,there do exist marked differences in the use of nominal ellipsis between the two languages, which enforces our understanding of the contrast between hypotaxis and parataxis that characterize English and Chinese respectively. |
