| Abstract: | The success of any educational system depends,in large part,on the teacher.This paper discusses the criteria for a qualified foreign language teacher,the importance of EFL teachers' professional development and university faculty development.It points out that professional development is a long process that will last throughout one's career life,and teacher education does not just mean earning some certificates or credentials,but more importantly,it aims at the overall improvement of their linguistic and cultural competence,and academic and pedagogical practice. |
