大学语文的工具性与人文性

大学语文，作为一门非中文专业大学生的必修课程，既有工具性，又有人文性，二者应该是有机统一的，不可偏废的，因此在编写大学语文教材时必须注意二者的有机统一。不过，从二者的关系和学生的实际来看，工具性是更根本的，离开了大学语文的工具性，就谈不上它的人文性，也就没有必要开设这门课程，那些人文讲座就可以完成中国文化人文精神的传授和培养的任务。

Nature of College Chinese of Being Instrumental and Humane

As a required course for non-Chinese specialty students, college Chinese is endowed with the natures of both being instrumental and humane. They should be organically united and neither should be over-emphasized at the expense of the other. Viewed in the light of their relation as well as the practical needs of the students, the nature of being instrumental is more essential. Its desertion would mean the unnecessariness of the course, for the task of imparting the humane spirit of the Chinese culture might well be fulfilled by those humane lectures.
