“以美育代宗教”：蔡元培审美信仰建构的双重价值追求

蔡元培提出“以美育代宗教说”是意图在宗教精神阙如而儒家礼乐法度业已崩解的现代中国文化场域中,以美育为手段实施一种信仰重建方案。美育所含之审美精神的特殊性和现代中国的社会政治语境决定了“以美育代宗教”的信仰建构逻辑包含了某种双重性的价值追求，具体表现在信仰的世俗性与超越性、个体性与社会性这两组二元对立之中，这也反映出现代知识分子在信仰重建过程中复杂的文化现代性心境。
