清代统治者办理苗疆的主导思想一开始就是力图在苗疆建立正常的行政管理体系，既使边墙的修建也是政治意义大于军事意义，在边墙框架下的湘西苗疆，经济社会得到极大发展，湘西苗疆逐步融入到统一的中华大家庭中，中国文化版图就是在这样一种民族文化融合中逐步形成的。

The Bordering Wall in the Qing Dynasty and the Development of Miao Territory in Xiangxi

The intention of the rulers of the Qing Dynasty in governing the Miao territory was to set up normal administration in the region,that's why the political significance was more than that of military in building the bordering wall.Under the frame of the bordering wall,social and economic progress was greatly made in Xiangxi(in the west of Hunan Province) and this region gradually mixed itself into the big family of China.In this cultural blending of ethnic groups,China's cultural territory was formed.
