反思现代性的内在困境必须立足于人的存在方式，现代性批判的根本途径是对现代人的存在方式的批判。在现代性逻辑的统治下，人的存在方式表现为:现代自由生活的自我背反、工具理性生活的自我宰制和个体精神生活的自我失落。立足于现代人的存在方式，现代性的背反性表现为：自由的实现及其破灭、理性的创造及其破坏、个性的张扬及其失落。
