On the Methodology of Social Research

In the fields of social science and humanities, there has been a prolonged argument over the methodology between positivists and humanists. In opposing the positivism and developing their own methodology, critical theory and expounding theory become two outstanding schools in this respect. However, there have remained some defects with the methodology of these two schools. While M. Weber advocates understanding sociology, he pays adequate attention to the scientific and objective property of social research.
