湖湘文化源远流长,底蕴深厚,它以传统理学心性之道和践履思想、乡土情节为内核,讲求经世致用,以区域意识和乡贤崇拜来延续自己的传统,不断强化区域象征话语体系,构建起完整严密自成体系的多层次文化系统。湖湘文化对中国传统儒学文化产生了重大影响,尤其是在近代,湖湘文化异军突起,堪称中国近代政治文化和学术史上一大奇观。尽管也有落后、僵滞的一面,但是作为一种至今对社会行为具有规范作用和道德感召力的文化力量,仍有重要价值。

The Definition, Character and Historical Orientation of Huxiang Culture

Huxiang culture has long history and abundant meaning. With Confucian philosophy, cultivating one's morality, spirit of running the society with practicality, awareness of local society, and worshipping local symbol and idol, Huxiang culture has developed or constructed integrate culture structure and idol system. Huxiang culture has being made lots of contribution to Chinese traditional culture, and played a great pole in the history from mid-Qing dynasty.
