Trade Protectionism Factors in Antidumping Laws and Strategy

The potential danger of abusing free trade is continuously increasing along with the unceasing reduction of tariffs and non-tariff barriers of different countries. It is increasingly important to take advantage of the antidumping law to realize the aim of free trade. Starting with typical examples of the antidumping laws of the European Community and of the United States, this article probes into protectionist factors in the antidumping law. Then, it expounds that the replacement of the antidumping law by the antitrust law or the establishment of an international uniform antidumping law system with the characteristic of democratic economy will eliminate or weaken to the full the negative influence of trade protectionism, which will provide systematic safeguarding for the realization of international fair trade and push forward the course of integration of international economy and trade and trade liberalization, as well as the cooperation and development of international economy and trade.
