北大的美育传统与音乐教育

蔡元培先生在中国近代教育史上率先施行美育，他认为艺术是实施美育的重要手段和重要内容，因此，他非常重视艺术教育，不仅口笔宣传，而且躬身实践，北大早期音乐教育，正是在蔡元培先生亲自领导，关心和支持下发展起来的，从音乐会到音乐传习所，从同乐会上的演说词到《音乐杂志》的发刊词，这其中既有他的理论思想，又有具体实践，他开创了中国近代专业音乐教育事业，确立了中西兼容的音乐教育体制，从宏观上，科学与艺术并重上、美育上来发展音乐，以达到音乐美育的效果，他的美育思想影响了几代人，美育是北大的传统。

Aesthetic Education: a Tradition of Peking University

Cai Yuanpei was the first person to practice aesthetic education in the history of modern education in China. He believed that art education was an important part of aesthetic education. He managed to initiate music education in Peking University when he served as its president. He created a system of music education which embraced both Chinese and European cultures. He emphasized the development of music aesthetic education from the perspectives of science and art, aesthetics. His aesthetic ideology was so influential that it forms a tradition of education in Peking University.
